Being the first supplier of Conformal Coating systems with a standard integrated camera for programming and fiducial alignment, Dima has even taken the Hybrid Conformal Coating System to a next step. By introducing a new software release we have created the possibility to fully off-line program the coating process.
The standard integrated camera of the HC-series coating and dispensing machines was already being used to easily program the machine. This has prevented the op-erator to stick its head inside the machine in order to find the correct coating posi-tions. Inside the camera image the size of the selected nozzle together with the se-lected material width are shown. This makes it extremely easy to determine whether the selected nozzle would interfere with high components and furthermore you can exactly specify where the coating material should be applied on the board. Off-line however there is no camera available to program the boards in a similar way. Therefore the off-line programming mode was a very theoretical approach of what the machine in reality would perform. By taking a picture of a board that needs to be coated and opening this picture in the Hybrid Coater software, DIMA now enables real off-line programming of boards. Utilizing fiducials to recognise the position of a board, it is now possible to do the same thing off-line by using the fiducials of the boards picture. Where normally the camera image shows the operator at what posi-tion the nozzle is on the board and how wide the material will be applied, the image that is being show in the off-line version is the image of the picture. Because the picture is exactly sized and positioned because of the availability of the fiducials, you can now created the coating program as if you were using the machine itself. The big advantage in this case is that while the coating machine is being used for its purpose of coating boards, a new board can off-line be programmed at the same time.
This new software is now available on all Hybrid Coating machines together with the latest update that provides 3D-coating and dispensing as well.
